I'm making two of these. One for my niece Katy, and one for my future no-name-yet niece. I think it's easily one of the cutest patterns I've seen for a little girl quilt.

Finished challenge piece
I put a border around it in the light blue fabric. It was the third fabric so I put it there because I had to but I love how it turned out. There's no back on it but that will have to wait until I get it back from Krisha. I can't wait to see what the next challenge fabric will look like.
Today at Bayside quilt shop in Olympia I found two fabrics I'd like to add to the quilt I'm going to make for my mom. This are the two on the left. I also bought one for the Castle quilt for Katy and Lindsey's future little girl. Then I got a Berenstain bear one :)

Working on my challenge...
Abbi was helping me decide what to make. I decided to pick a fabric to add to the three challenge fabrics that might pull another color out of the ugly fabric. I picked a red with small gold dots.
The block I'm making is Storm at Sea. I've never done it before and I have no idea what my finished block will look like. This is me stepping outside of my box... My comfy bright colored, no floral print ever box.
Need to complete this by tomorrow.

One more update
I haven't updated this in almost a year so I have one more update. The bird picture was from the fabric of our first fabric challenge. We can make anything we want so this was what I came up with. I never took a picture of the completed wall hanging unfortunately.
The other picture is a pillow case I made for my step dad for Christmas. It is him on his horse Sasha and their dog Bridgit. He was too wasted when he opened it to even realize what it was but oh well. I didn't make it to please him necessarily. I am proud of it and that's what really matters.
Challenge fabric
I have to create something with this fabric by January 12. I don't like the fabric with the orange and dark blue so I'm having a hard time deciding what to make with this and have it be something I would use in the future. This sure does make me step outside of my box.
I need to start posting my projects!
I finished the top of my best friends Halloween quilt today. I think I will send it to a long arm quilter.
